Language studies in degree programmes
Language and communication courses in universities of applied sciences ('ammattikorkeakoulu' in Finnish) aim to provide students with such language, communication and intercultural skills that are required in their future careers. Therefore, in the objectives and the content of language courses, the focus is on the needs of working life. The range of languages comprises Finnish, Swedish, English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, and Italian. The language of instruction in the courses is mainly, Finnish, but it is possible to study some language courses without knowgledge of Finnish. The courses are taught by more than 30 professional language teachers. The language and communication courses are coordinated by the Language Department.
In KyUAS language courses are provided by the Language Department. Further details of the organisation of the Language Department are found here.
Culture, Social and Health Care, and in Business in Kouvola provide their own language courses. You can find further information on the pages of your own degree programme.

Services to companies and organisations
Training Services of Kymenlaakson ammattikorkeakoulu provides language and communication courses for companies and organisations in cooperation with the Language Department. All courses are tailored to meet the client's requirements. Whenever necessary, our service can include an analysis of the client's language needs, and a test to determine the starting level.
