Online studies

Online courses are the modern way of studying in the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences. Online studies enhance the flexibility and versability of degree programmes. On the online courses you can study wherever you like if you only have a computer and an internet connection. In some cases you will need a headset for communication with your teacher and fellow students as well.  

Workload and study requirements of online studies are ment to be equal with the workload and requirements of traditional study modes. Assignments, other study tasks and course materials are distributed through the online learning environment. Synchronous and asynchronous modes of communication and group work are enabled through discussion groups, chats and web conferencing tools. The learning process is guided by a teacher and enriched by the group of students. The necessary passwords and access codes are provided after signing in to a course.

Online courses

All the fields of study of KUAS provide courses which are implemented either entirely or in part on the Internet. The persons in charge of the degree programmes and the Student Services provide further information on online studies and the accreditation of online studies to master's degree.

Applying for online courses 

New online courses start approximately five times a year, in the beginning of each study period. 

• If you are a student of KyUAS, you can sign up for the courses in WinhaWille
• If you are a student of a Finnish University of Applied Sciences (other than KUAS), you can apply through the Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences at www.amk.fi
• If you are not a student yet, you can take part in Open studies through the Open University of Applied Sciences. 

Fees

Online studies are free of charge when they are part of degree studies. For students of Open university of applied sciences the cost is (in April 2010) 50€/credit unit. So, the price for a course of 3 cr is 150€.
