Professionals working in the customer-oriented field of social and health care promote the welfare of the society and its citizens. The aim of the social policy is to provide all citizens with equal, high-quality social services. More Bachelors and Masters of social and health care are needed in the society, especially because of the changeable population structure.
At Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences the education of social and health care provides the students with profound knowledge of professional growth and customer-oriented work in the multicultural, rapidly changing working environment. Problem-based learning methods and working practicalities as well as an entrepreneur-like learning environment are the basics of the education.
Degree programmes Social Service, Elderly Care and Healt Care specialisations are taught in Kuusankoski health care unit. Nursing, Naprapathy and Emergency Care degree programmes are taught in Kotka health care unit. The Master programme of Health Promotion is partly taught in Kuusankoski and partly in Kotka.
