Degree Programme in International Business

The scope of the degree programme is 210 cr,

and the duration of studies is 3.5 years.
The language of teaching is English.

  • International Trade

The studies will begin in Autumn 2012, forty student places available in Kouvola.

Pursuing challenging careers in international business

The International Business Bachelor’s Degree Programme aims to equip the graduates with the knowledge, skills and understanding required in challenging positions in the expanding field of International Marketing and International Trade. It also strives to produce graduates who can work independently and communicate with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

The programme is organised on a full time basis. One year of study equals approximately 1,600 hours’ input by the student. Credits earned at other institutions in Finland or abroad are widely transferable. The studies involve a great deal of project work, group work and independent studying. There are no tuition fees for either Finnish or international full-time students.

The International Business students deepen their personal internationalisation by studying or working abroad for one semester (approximately half a year) during their studies. This usually takes place during the 3rd year.

The specialisation studies in International Marketing aim at giving students the knowledge and skills to undertake various, demanding tasks in the field of marketing and customer service. Graduates of International Marketing have found positions as Market Supervisors, Team Managers, Development Directors, Sales representatives and Account Managers, etc. International Marketing includes studies in marketing intelligence, strategic planning, CRM, brand management, languages and intercultural communication, for example. The students will carry out various field projects related to the specialisation.

Specialising in International Trade qualifies for planning, leadership and training positions requiring competence in international trade. Former graduates are working as Area Export Managers, Export Operators, Entrepreneurs, Logistics Co-ordinators and Purchasers, etc. International Trade includes studies in business strategies, global sourcing, marketing, logistics, financing, languages and intercultural communication, for example. The students will carry out various field projects related to the specialisation.

The applicants who satisfactorily meet all admissions requirements will be invited to an entrance exam.
The entrance examination is on 25 April 2012 at Paraatikenttä 7, in Kasarminmäki, Kouvola, Finland.

Entrance Exams Abroad:

The Kymenlaakso UAS International Business degree programme organises entrance exams abroad in cooperation with the so called FINNIPS network (Finnish Network for International Programmes).

Kymenlaakso UAS will invite applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility and language skills by the set date to participate in the entrance exams in the countries listed at the bottom of this page.

Applicants applying from these countries will get detailed information of the exam in the invitation letter.

To make up their mind about which 1 - 4 degree programmes to apply for, applicants can check which degree programmes in Finland accept the entrance exam of each other on the website of the Finnish National Board of Education, please see.

At the same site applicants can also check which Universities of Applied Sciences/degree programmes arrange entrance exams abroad and in which countries, please see.
