Creativity, teamwork and technologies

The unit of Design and Media in Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences educates future professionals for the fields of design, media and restoration. We emphasise a visual and contentual approach, use of technology and development of the student’s communicative skills.

Design and Media is a part of the faculty of International Business and Culture. Close cooperation and joint-projects with the Business unit promote entrepreneurial working methods.

We focus on comprehensive design of various product and service concepts utilising the expertise in our various degree programmes. A strong sense of form as well as user and context-centered design are key elements in our work. Courses are based on different kinds of, often authentic, projects. Research, development, and innovation activities are interwoven as an integral part of the tuition.

The education is provided at Kasarminmäki Campus in Kouvola. The director of Design and Media is M.A. Heli Juvonen. There are circa 560 students and over 60 members of staff in the four degree programmes of the sector.
