Language teaching management

The strategic management of an organisation of experts is challenging. Language teaching must conform with the strategic aims of the entire organisation, university of applied sciences. The management process can been seen as a chain: from the contracts made with the ministry of education to the goal setting of each unit within the university and to the annual feedback talks with the personnel.

To manage language teaching effectively, it is vital that the person in charge of language teaching is an expert in the field. The chain described above breaks if the communication between the parties fail. Also, the decision making should be left to the experts.

From the point of view of quality management it also essential that language management is in the hands of experts. To implement the European Frame of Reference requires in-depth knowledge of language teaching. The research and development work in co-operation with other educational establihments and local companies cannot be fruitful if it is carried out by non-experts.
