Student tutor activities

Student tutors are senior students, who will guide new students in the matters related to beginning of their studies and otherwise when needed. They help the new students to adapt to their new working environment and to find the services needed. Goals of tutoring activities are to create positive learning environment for different campuses of KyUAS.

Participating in the tutor training program arranged by KyUAS and active performance as a student tutor brings the student 2 or 3 ETCS depending on the chosen study period. The credits gained can be incorporated in the optional studies.

Tutor training days are arranged in winter time, normally in March. The total amount of the students participating into training is 60-80 students. The student tutor contract is signed after the training. After the period you’ll report the activities you have done.

You will find the documents needed in intranet.

Departments nominate a liaison person within each study program for student tutors. KyUAS has one staff member who coordinates the whole tutoring process (Senior Student Counsellor Paula Paananen, firstname.surname@kyamk.fi, tel. 044 702 8726. Paula's office is located at the Metsola campus in Kotka, room CK0122.)
